What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quarry Tech position at Baxter County Sheriff's Office?
GENERAL
Under general supervision, performs skilled work in the use pf powerful machinery to dig and drill rock, sand, and gravel from the quarry. In addition, proficiently operate a dozer, excavator, and grader to crush, transport, and process these aggregates for use.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Properly operates heavy and light equipment as it relates to the responsibilities of the Baxter County quarry.
- Conducts daily routine preventative maintenance on equipment and requests repairs as needed. All defects are reported to the foreman.
- Performs other related work as assigned by the foreman.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be physically able to operate heavy equipment. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to work outside and have the ability to withstand heat and cold. Extended periods of sitting may be required. Physical demand requirements are consistent with those of light to medium work.
INTERPERSON COMMUNICATION
Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving instructions, assignments, or directions for superiors.
ABILITY
Requires the ability to read. Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
VERBAL APTITUDE
Required the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.
NUMERICAL APTITUDE
Requires the ability to perform mathematical calculations.
FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE
Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape.
MOTOR COORDINATION
Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using heavy motorized equipment.
MANUAL DEXTERITY
Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as heavy motorized equipment. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT
Must be adaptable to perform under stress.
PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION
Requires the ability to talk and hear.
