Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Deputy Treasurer to join the Treasury team. This role is crucial in supporting the financial operations of our organization, ensuring effective cash management, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and a solid understanding of general ledger accounting principles.
Position Responsibilities
- Receive calls from the public and direct them to the appropriate office.
- Receipt in all revenues for all Baxter County offices. Records, scans, and files documentation.
- Reconcile banks statements, receipts, and distribute interest.
- Receipt in current/delinquent personal taxes, real estate taxes, state land sales, homestead (property tax relief), and federal forest and flood control. Calculate and record distribution amounts.
- Ad Valorem monthly report sent to the Arkansas State Treasurer's Office for all school districts.
- Process monthly distributions to all taxing entities.
- Process distribution of settlements disbursed by District Court or County/Circuit Clerk.
- Receipt local sales tax.
- Complete sales tax rebate distributions as needed.
- Process Accounts Payable transactions.
- Process Payroll transactions.
- Remit payments for Payroll liabilities.
- Maintain reconciliation and process payment of retiree insurance benefits.
- Complete bank deposits and secure collateralization as needed.
- Process and document all court orders, transfers by ordinances, and reimbursements to departmental budgets.
- Complete monthly warrant reconciliation.
- Provide revenue and balance information to all Baxter County offices as needed.
- Distribute excess collector's and treasurer's commissions and process final tax settlement distributions annually.
- Quarterly reimburse County General Fund.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Work on annual budgeting process projecting revenues and compiling the budget for all departments.
Experience
- Proven experience in financial management or a related field, with a focus on cash management and accounts receivable.
- Familiarity with general ledger accounting practices is essential.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- A background in public accounting is a plus but not required.
