POSITION SUMMARY
Work with and assists the general public, taxpayers, abstract companies, real estate offices, appraisers, city and state offices, etc. either in person, by phone, mail, or email. To learn/know Arkansas Codes and laws governing manufactured homes, delinquent and current taxes, County Policy, and the Collector's Policy. This position requires the ability to handle and work with all forms of payments, cash, checks, money orders, cashier's checks, and credit cards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Collecting millions of taxpayers dollars both current and delinquent.
- Handle/work with confidential information.
- Responsible for posting all delinquent receipt numbers in the delinquent taxes.
- Responsible for manufactured homes. Research/locate owner and collect delinquent taxes.
- Responsible for locating and communicating with delinquent taxpayers a timeline in getting taxes paid.
- Responsible for locating and communicating with taxpayers with no addresses the amount due and providing timeline in getting taxes paid.
- Primary backup & support in the duties/responsibilities to the full office team.
- Keeping/maintaining a balanced individual cash drawer.
- Enter and balance daily cash receipts for both current account and delinquent accounts.
- Preparing deposits daily for all accounts.
- Answering phones and handling whatever is requested.
- Problem-solving; including working with the Collector, co-workers, taxpayers, general public, etc. in resolving issues.
- Work with other County offices to help assist taxpayers.
- Greeting and working with any and every one that contacts the Collectors office in person, phone, mail, or email.
- Process corrections for the Assessor's office.
- Providing/obtaining clearances for taxpayers to renew car license: both in county and out of county.
- Locate and provide receipts for the public, abstractors, accounting offices, taxing services, banks, mortgage companies, attorney's, etc.
- Assist in mailing out tax statements annually to all taxpayers.
- Opens and distributes mail.
- Open and close the office.
- Assist the Collector and teammates with other duties and job functions in the office as assigned.
- Will be available to perform any duties of the Collector's office as needed.
- Being at work on time & ready to work by scheduled time.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Mental alternes and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 1-year related experience, and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Position Qualifications

Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to type fluently.
Must be computer literate, and able to operate basic office equipment such as but not limited to; multi-line phone, fax, copier, typewriter, computer, postage machine, postage scales, 10 key calculator, document scanner, currency counter/counterfeit machine and credit card swipe processor.
Must be detailed oriented, have strong multi-tasking and organizing skills.

Must be able to pass the Collector's Office Skills Test.
