QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
1. Must meet all clearance requirements of the Morehouse Parish School District.
2. Must have completed the Coaches Education Certification program (CECP) sponsored by the Louisiana High School Athletic
Association (LHSAA).
3. Must provide proof of a high school diploma (minimum) and have graduated at least four years prior to being approved to
coach any sport.
4. Must be approved by the school principal.
5. Previous coaching experience is preferred, especially in school or youth sports settings
6. Must have knowledge of LHSAA rules and regulations
7. Strong communication and leadership skills
8. Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and student athletes
9. Commitment to ongoing training in coaching methods and student engagement
Contract Terms
CECP coaches are contracted for one sport season. The school principal has the authority to dismiss a CECP coach at any time if deemed necessary.
Additional Information for Non-Faculty Coaches
Beginning November 1, 2009, the following guidelines shall be used when utilizing a non-faculty coach at any LHSAA member schools:
Course Requirement
Must complete the NFHS – Fundamentals of Coaching course, including the Louisiana Component. Cost: $140.00; Payment: Credit card only, at the time of registration with NFHS.
Certification
Upon completion, the individual will receive a certificate and certificate number from NFHS.
Principal Submission
The certificate must be submitted to the principal of the school where the individual will coach.
Registration
The principal will register the non-faculty coach with the LHSAA
Verification Form
The principal and coach must complete the LHSAA/Non-Faculty Coach Meeting Verification Form (available only to LHSAA member school principals).
Both the certificate and the completed verification form must be filed in the coach’s school folder.
