What are the responsibilities and job description for the MSAT Lead position at Barrington James?
A global biopharmaceutical manufacturer, is undergoing a major site transformation, including new facility builds and the introduction of new technology platforms. This MSAT Lead opportunity will lead a team of 4-6 within the Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) organization, supporting a next-generation vaccine platform, one of the more complex development efforts in the industry today, along with future drug product tech transfer activities as a new manufacturing line comes online.
This is a people leadership role as much as a technical one: you'll be developing and engaging a team while also serving as a hands-on technical resource for process troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle management.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of 4-6 technical specialists supporting MSAT activities
- Provide in-depth technical expertise across process validation, troubleshooting, and optimization for drug substance manufacturing (bioconjugation, UFDF, chromatography, complexation)
- Support lifecycle changes and impact assessments tied to process or equipment modifications
- Partner cross-functionally with upstream and downstream manufacturing teams, as well as international sites
- Contribute to future Drug Product tech transfer activities (formulation, aseptic filling) as new facility capabilities come online
- Ensure regulatory and GMP compliance; support health authority inspections
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field with 8 years of experience in MSAT or related manufacturing technical roles within pharma/biotech, ideally spanning both Drug Substance and Drug Product
- Experience managing or leading a team
- MSAT experience supporting drug products, drug delivery systems, and vaccines
- Hands-on experience with UFDF, chromatography, and/or related bioprocessing equipment
