TITLE: CURRICULUM AND MATERIALS SPECIALIST
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
- Strong proficiency with technology tools, including Google Workspace, spreadsheets, databases, and other systems used for communication, purchasing, and data management.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, and families.
- Navigate all tasks given in an efficient, timely, and confidential manner.
- Willing to learn new duties, systems, and technology as needed to support the department.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position provides operational and administrative support for curriculum, instructional initiatives, and materials management within the Teaching & Learning Department. The specialist supports the Teaching and Learning Department Directors and curriculum teams by coordinating purchasing, inventory management, and distribution of curriculum materials, as well as assisting with meetings, professional learning logistics, and department operations.
REPORTS TO: Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning or Designee
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum Materials & Resource Management
- Orders curriculum materials and instructional resources and coordinates distribution to schools and teachers.
- Maintains district inventory of curriculum materials in District storage.
- Coordinates the distribution of materials based on enrollment changes, section adjustments, and program needs.
- Assists with new curriculum resource adoption logistics management, including organizing and distributing new curriculum materials.
- Collaborates with the Teaching and Learning Directors on curriculum ordering needs as necessary.
- Provides administrative and purchasing support to the instructional coaching and curriculum teams.
Department Operations & Administrative Support
- Manages and prepares the budget for the Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning, including elementary-specific grants and relevant student activity accounts.
- Responds to inquiries, coordinates scheduling, and supports department operations for the Director of Elementary Teaching & Learning and related teams.
- Coordinates arrangements and materials for meetings, including preparation of agendas, documents, and notes as requested.
- Assists with the coordination of curriculum and professional learning meetings and takes minutes when requested.
- Compiles and completes data and research as needed and directed.
- Composes and prepares correspondence, forms, reports, and documents as directed.
- Supports the maintenance of the Teaching & Learning webpage as directed.
Instructional Programs & Professional Learning Support
- Assists with professional development opportunities for teachers, including institute days, Summer University, 220U, and external professional development opportunities.
- Assists with coordination of district-wide field trips and instructional events, as directed.
- Provides curriculum and materials support to Elementary Summer School programs
Additional Responsibilities
- Handles delegated administrative tasks and operational responsibilities.
- Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular use of computers, technology systems, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the office and storage areas for extended periods of time.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and moving of boxes of curriculum materials and instructional resources (up to approximately 40 pounds).
- Ability to bend, reach, and organize materials in storage areas or shelving units.
- Frequent handling, sorting, and organizing of curriculum materials, supplies, and instructional resources.
- Ability to travel between district buildings or storage locations as needed to support materials distribution and department operations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, administrators, and vendors in person, by phone, and through electronic communication.
