Position Summary
The primary function of the superintendent will vary; however, they can expect to be responsible for coordinating daily scheduling, supervising all activities, tasks, and employees, and ensuring the safety and compliance of the operation. They will ensure that teammates, equipment, and materials are used in a safe and efficient manner that maximizes productivity. When situations arise that cannot be handled by the frontline team the superintendent will provide a “solution-oriented” approach for the team and customer to address any situation as it relates to work zone safety or direct reports.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Follow all safety rules and regulations of the Company and particularly the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Oversee work progress and/or perform manual work on related work sites
• Inspect all work, equipment, and material for correctness and quality
• Ensure training for each Driver and TCS to effectively set up and take down jobs in a timely and safe manner.
• To ensure compliance with all Policies and Procedures
• Monitor all work and hold employees accountable to business standards.
• As needed, perform, and monitor truck inspections and job inspections.
• Effectively communicate to all Ops personnel on all business issues and updates
• Drive and enforce the highest level of quality in all aspects of work.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building relationships with team members inside and out of the organization.
• Ensure all jobs are completed within a reasonable time and ensure the drivers and TCS are set
up for absolute success.
• To ensure that all required paperwork is turned in daily (Example: DVIR, DPR,
Daily Logs etc.)
• Work with customers on validating the quality of service, conflict resolution, or any other customer issues
• Lift, carry and stack materials and traffic control devices (see below for specifics)
• When needed, work with Human Resources in the administration of disciplinary / performance actions. Including performance reviews and written disciplinary warnings up to and including terminations.
• Full compliance with all safety initiatives
• Required to completely support the Drivers and TCS in all aspects, to help them be successful daily.
• Meet with the Ops manager or other key managers as needed to discuss business needs or other items.
• Must play a key role in making sure that the assigned jobs and paperwork are done correctly.
• To promote a teamwork atmosphere.
• Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), e.g., hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, masks, and earplugs as required, and when applicable, a respirator
• Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary, with little or no notice.
• Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Must maintain CCA or ATSSA TCS Certification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building relationships with team members inside and out of the organization
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-motivated; capable of taking initiative, successfully handling, and prioritizing multiple competing assignments, and effectively managing deadlines.

• A passion for success, a positive and friendly attitude, and a consistent work ethic are all a
must
• A strong knowledge of the traffic control/construction industry is a major plus.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
• Work may be performed in the office or may be performed outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions / varying temperatures, e.g., exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or windy conditions.
• General Lift/Carry/Reaching Expectations: Must be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs. Constantly 50lbs. maximum; occasionally 65lbs. maximum Work may include prolonged and repeated lifting (including overhead).
• Walking: Occasional walking throughout shift to remain alert and to move with machinery involved in worksite project. Will periodically walk to put down and pick up safety cones and signs.
• The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination
• Position may include sitting for extended periods of time while working.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Settings/Description of Environmental Hazards Encountered.
• Highways, city, and county roads. Working around moving vehicles on roadways and around moving heavy equipment at road construction site.
Requirements
• Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR **Must maintain a valid driver’s license during entire employment**
• Forklift certification and Flagger certification may be required
• Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
• Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check
• Pass medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
