Position Overview

The primary duties of the Fence Technician are to deliver, install, remove, move, and repair various types of temporary fencing and crowd control devices. You will load and unload materials from trucks and perform installation and service work as required while complying with all safety processes outlined by Colorado Barricade. The ideal candidate will, prioritize customer service, maintain a professional representation of the company, and accurately track, report, and communicate fieldwork back to office representatives. Operating company vehicles and equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are integral aspects of this multifaceted position.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Deliver and install various types of fences based on customer specifications and project requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient placement of fences, adhering to design plans and quality standards.
  • Safely and skillfully remove existing fences for replacement or repair.
  • Conduct repairs on damaged fences, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
  • Operate company vehicles and specialized equipment for fence installation and removal.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Strictly adhere to safety procedures and guidelines during all fence-related activities.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Consistently wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for the task at hand.
  • Educate team members on the importance of PPE and enforce its use across all activities.
  • Interact professionally with customers during fence installations and repairs.
  • Address customer inquiries, provide information, and ensure satisfaction with the completed work.
  • Demonstrate a customer-centric approach, ensuring a positive experience throughout the project.
  • Always represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Uphold the company's values and reputation by demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of fence installations, removals, and repairs.
  • Utilize technology and tools for real-time tracking of field activities.
  • Provide regular and comprehensive reports to office representatives on completed work and project status.
  • Communicate effectively with office representatives to relay project updates, changes, or challenges.
  • Collaborate with the office team to ensure seamless coordination between field and office operations.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed fence installations and repairs.
  • Ensure that all work meets or exceeds company and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including project managers and fellow technicians, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Share relevant information and coordinate tasks effectively within the team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely Pre-Trip and Post Trip Inspection paperwork.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner that promotes a professional and respectful atmosphere and ensures that the service encounter with the customer is an exceptional experience.
  • Clean, sweep and organize yard, shops, and inventory supplies and equipment.
  • Wash and clean equipment.
  • Keep company vehicles clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems
  • Work hours can be dependent on weather.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Flagging when assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to read maps and knowledge of local streets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with team members inside and out of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated; capable of taking initiative, successfully handling, and prioritizing multiple competing assignments, and effectively managing deadlines.
  • A passion for working in a high-growth business to the pace and expectations of the culture.
  • A passion for success, a positive and friendly attitude, and a consistent work ethic are all a must.
  • A strong knowledge of the traffic control/construction industry is a major plus.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late, when necessary, with little or no notice. Able to work mid and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willing to travel as needed.

 

 

Working Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions / varying temperatures, exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, dry, and/or windy conditions.
  • General Lift/Carry Expectations: Must be able to up to 35 lbs. regularly. Constant lifting/carrying of material used to complete the job.
  • Standing: Constant standing throughout the shift. Position may require standing for periods greater than two hours at a time, for a total of greater than eight hours.
  • Walking: Constant walking throughout shift to complete worksite project.
  • Sitting: Occasional sitting for brief periods in vehicles when moving from one location to another.
  • Reaching: Constant reaching to load and unload material and equipment. Included constant overhead reaching.
  • Stooping/Bending/Kneeling: Constant stooping/bending/kneeling when putting down and picking up material and equipment.
  • Twisting: Frequent twisting of the body from side to side.
  • Grasping: Constant grasping handles, brooms, shovels, roller knaps.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Frequent pushing and pulling of various work equipment.
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination.

 

Work Settings/Description of Environmental Hazards Encountered

  • City, and county roads. Working around moving vehicles on roadways and around moving heavy equipment at road construction site. Construction and private contractor job sites. Festivals, event venues, and parades.

 

Travel

  • Daily travel to and from the worksite, some overnight travel may be necessary.

 

Requirements

  • Driver’s License and clean MVR **Must maintain a valid driver’s license during entire employment**.
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check.
  • Hold/obtain DOT medical card (if driving).
  • Forklift certification may be required or able to obtain.
