What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Support Specialist position at BARC Developmental Services?
All Newly Hired Full-time Staff will receive a $1500 Sign On Bonus. BARC Developmental Services is a not-for-profit agency serving Bucks County Pennsylvania individuals and families since 1951. BARC Developmental Services is currently hiring for the position of Behavioral Support Specialist (BSS) in our residential homes throughout Bucks County - including Perkasie, Sellersville, Quakertown, Warminster and Doylestown.
Behavior Support Specialist responsibilities include:
- Train and mentor Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) on implementing Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP).
- Model effective interactions with individuals to enhance DSP skills.
- Develop, update, and monitor behavior plans; ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
- Collect and analyze behavioral and ISP data; prepare required reports.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and assist with Functional Behavior Analyses.
- Provide crisis intervention using least restrictive measures and ensure adherence to ODP incident standards.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including ODP, HIPAA, and state/federal guidelines.
Behavioral Support Specialist must meet the professional education or licensure criteria in one of the following three sets of requirements:
- A Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis or Gerontology.
- A Pennsylvania Behavior Support License
OR
- A Bachelor’s degree and work under the supervision of a professional who has a Master’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis or Gerontology.
In addition to the education and licensing criteria above, behavioral specialist must meet the following standards: Complete training in Conducting and using a Functional Behavioral Assessment and complete training in Positive Behavioral Support.

Pay: $27.00 - $29.00 per hour
