Summary: The Supervisor, Respiratory Services shall supervise and coordinate the Respiratory Care Department activities and any related job duties in the clinical practice of Respiratory Care. This individual shall provide general and intensive bedside respiratory care to patients of all ages; as well as to address any respiratory related care issues, both actual and anticipated. The Supervisor will develop and improve programs for education and cliical application in regard to current standards of care and practice, changing technology, and identified quality improvement opportunities. The Supervisor will act as a mentor to all Respiratory staff. This position may have additional duties assigned within scope of the role. Education / Experience: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care required. If credentialed after 2002, must maintain active membership status for credentials issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Two years of clinical experience. For level 3 NICU, three years of recent clinical experience required. License/Certification: Active ASBRT LRT required, Active NBRC RRT required, BLS required, Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, etc) may be required depending upon area assigned,
NPS required within 1 year of hire for those in the Pediatric/Neonatal area. S.T.A.B.L.E. certification preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Must be able to assist and maneuver patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and beds.
There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
Must be able to push and pull equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs of the time.
There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Requires occasional interfacility transport via ground transportation.
Performs duties relating to Respiratory Care in all areas of hospital. Exposure to gluteraldehyde when cleaning equipment.
Continuous exposure to mechanical and electrical producing equipment. Exposed to medical gases-oxygen, medical air, and on occasion nitric oxide.
