Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, or related field in education.
Ability to get a valid CO teaching license.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching middle school English Language Arts.Knowledge of middle school ELA standards and curriculum (reading, writing, grammar, and foundational literacy skills).

The Middle School English Language Arts Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction that builds foundational literacy skills, including reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. This position fosters a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes student growth, confidence, and independence while aligning with PBIS, CKH, and restorative practices.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Lesson DesignDevelop and deliver engaging lessons aligned to middle school ELA standards.Emphasize reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing skills, and discussion.Use a variety of texts, including fiction, nonfiction, and informational materials appropriate for adolescent learners.Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of students.
Assessment & FeedbackDesign and administer formative and summative assessments.Provide timely, specific feedback to support student growth in reading and writing.Use assessment data to inform instruction and support intervention and enrichment.
Classroom Culture & ManagementEstablish clear expectations, routines, and procedures.Create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment.Reinforce PBIS expectations consistently.
CKH & Relationship BuildingBuild strong, positive relationships with students to foster engagement and trust.Support student confidence and identity development as readers and writers.
Restorative PracticesAddress behavior through reflective and restorative approaches.
CollaborationParticipate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to plan instruction and analyze data.Collaborate with colleagues to improve student outcomes.
Operational SupportSupport school events, supervision duties, and testing as needed.
