What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Underwriter position at Bank of Canton?
SENIOR UNDERWRITER
Develop and maintain processing and underwriting of 1-4 family residential and construction loan transactions in compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, MHFA, State and Federal Requirements. Actively support sales efforts to promote the bank’s services and products.
Special Requirements: 3-5 years experience as Sr. Underwriter; DU/LP, LOS competency
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
- Review mortgage applications received from originators for completeness and accuracy. Pre-Screen loan files for qualifications consistent with appropriate underwriting guidelines. Assist others in resolving problems and respond to questions related to residential loans.
- Review submitted documentation for completeness and consistency with original information as indicated on the loan application. Coordinate and communicate loan criteria and requirements to appropriate parties.
- Perform credit and appraisal analysis and approve residential loan originations ensuring compliance with investor criteria, including PMI companies; Bank regulators and Bank’s Board of Investment.
- Contact vendors to check status of credit reports, appraisals, flood certification companies and attorneys.
- Prepare commitment letters and/or adverse action letters.
- Update information as received and review approved loan conditions to ensure all conditions are satisfied in accordance to investor guidelines before forwarding to the Closing Department.
- Manage loan pipeline efficiently to ensure compliance with 30 day action required date, Purchase & Sales Agreement close date and Rate Lock expiration date.
- Review all HMDA information to ensure accuracy. Review GFE, TIL, ARM information, application dates and request revised disclosures, if applicable.
- Understands and underwrites broker loan submissions for investors, including non QM and FHA loans.
SECONDARY ELEMENTS
- Attend seminars, classes and staff meetings necessary to improve knowledge of banking.
- Participate in community events sponsored by the bank.
- Perform other related duties as required or directed.
- Ability to lift 25 lb. boxes of loan files as needed.
