Essential Duties & Responsibilities
All new hires must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Implements and enforces safety policies / procedures in compliance with Local, State, Federal, project specific, and Company specific rules and regulations
- Advises the Safety Director and Management on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions
- Assists with the planning and execution of the Education & Training programs, which includes, but not limited to, safety committee meetings, training classes, or toolbox talks
- Involved in the pre-planning and creation of project specific safety plans
- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections. Notify and follow through with responsible parties when corrective actions are required
- Performs / Assists supervisory personnel in investigating any incident or near miss
- Report potential insurance claims to Safety Director
- Assists with maintenance of Drug-Free Workplace Policy
- Helps to establish corporate and divisional safety program goals and objectives
- Minimum experience: 2 years construction safety experience (safety as primary role)
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in a safety related field
- Certifications
- Required: OSHA 30
- OSHA 500 (Will provide if necessary)
- Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) or similar certifications are a plus
- Basic understanding of state worker compensation laws and reporting requirements.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, managers, clients, or customers.
- Ability to build trust and confidence with the Project Managers and Superintendents to influence change and direction while providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time, while meeting deadlines
- Ability to coach and counsel in a situation when an employee(s) is observed in an unsafe act or situation
- Capable of maintaining confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with respect and professionalism.
- Must have current driver's license
- Ability to travel overnight for division or project needs
- Ability to sit, stand, walk (flat ground, uneven ground, up-stairs, or ramps) Stand for long periods of time, climb ladders
