Job Overview
The Fatherhood Engagement Coordinator supports the Fatherhood Engagement Specialist with programming, groups, and events designed to engage fathers. This position promotes community awareness of the value of involved fathers and is committed to strengthening father– child and parent–child relationships through engagement activities, trainings, and collaboration with health providers, the Department of Social Services, and other community partners. The coordinator also provides administrative support for the BHS Fatherhood Program.
Duties & Responsibilities
Program Support
- Manage day-to-day operations to support fatherhood programs, including:
- Coordinating services
- Handling administrative tasks
- Scheduling and liaising with clients and staff
- Plan, coordinate, and implement programs, community workshops, and events to engage fathers.
- Promote community awareness regarding the importance of involved fathers.
- Demonstrate and encourage father-friendliness during home visits and at the center.
- Make referrals to appropriate services when necessary.
General Office Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming calls and visitors.
- Manage correspondence, including typing letters and emails.
- Maintain a professional and organized office environment.
Outreach and Engagement
- Assist program staff with outreach efforts to identify, engage, and recruit fathers for services.
Records Management
- Process required paperwork and maintain accurate, up-to-date client and program files.
- Assist with file audits to ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
Data Entry and Reporting
- Utilize databases and information systems to enter documentation, track attendance and program statistics, and assist in preparing reports for management and funders.
Meeting and Event Coordination
- Coordinate program events and schedule client appointments.
- Arrange staff travel and vehicle use.
- Record and transcribe meeting minutes as needed.
Financial Support
- Assist with petty cash management, processing purchase orders, tracking expenditures, and ensuring alignment with Baltimore Healthy Start’s financial procedures.
Resource Management
- Support facilitators and mentors by preparing room setups and materials for workshops.
- Maintain current information on community resources for fathers and families.
Client Support
- Provide basic information to clients regarding available services.
- When qualified and needed, offer brief relief childcare.
Minimum Qualifications & Job Skills Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in the human services or related field.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable daily transportation.
- Self-motivated and resourceful, with strong organizational skills and the ability to be punctual, efficient, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage with clients and colleagues clearly and professionally.
- Consistently professional, pleasant, and respectful demeanor.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and interact positively with individuals from varied ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on documentation, appointments, and administrative responsibilities.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office programs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk and climb stairs. Possible lifting of items up to and including 25 pounds multiple times.
Work Environment: Work is performed inside and outside at varied temperatures. The position requires walking 50-75% and 25% of driving during the day with occasional standing and/or bending.
Pay: $21.50 per hour
