Definition of Responsibility
Manages and supports the operations of the Department of Special Events. Serves as a recreation supervisor by assisting the Community Supervisor II – Special Events and the Recreation Regional Coordinator with planning, organizing, and overseeing special events.

Under general supervision, coordinating logistics, supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with departmental policies, and supporting the successful delivery of high-quality recreational experiences for the community.
Essential Job Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive county-wide special events and recreational programs that meet the diverse needs and interests of constituents.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of recreational and nature events, including site-based and community events, and participate in Departmental outreach.
- Collaborate with community organizations, recreation councils, and partners to enhance Special Event offerings and promote participation.
- Work with outside organizations, vendors, and partners to establish agreements, including vendor acknowledgments, performer agreements, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and license agreements, as necessary to support events and programs.
- Drive trailers and UTVs, transport and set up special events tents and supplies, and perform site walk-throughs.
- Recruit vendors, exhibitors, and performers, and complete related event paperwork.
- Work collaboratively across all divisions of the Department, supporting programming in Special Events, Summer Camps, Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Activity Centers, and Nature/Environmental/Agricultural initiatives.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate program coordinators, staff, and volunteers.
- Develop and manage budgets for special events and related programs, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and responsibly.
- Maintain and update program policies and procedures in compliance with safety regulations, departmental standards, and Baltimore County Government best practices.
- Conduct evaluations and assessments of program and event effectiveness; analyze results and recommend improvements.
- Assist the Department’s Marketing and Communications team to promote programs and special events through print, digital, and community outreach channels.

Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
