When your shift begins, you’ll walk the sheet metal area with safety top of mind, check your press brake and shear, review the day’s kitted materials, and load programs for simple parts. By mid-morning you’re teaming up with a Senior Mechanic to change dies and CNC tooling, running first-article checks with micrometers and calipers, and updating the fabrication database. In the afternoon you’ll move materials with pallet jacks or a jib crane, manage the drop-off rack to minimize scrap, perform preventive maintenance, and help the team hit production targets—all while living BAC’s values: Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation.
What You’ll Do- Champion safety for yourself and your teammates; use required PPE and follow all procedures.
- Assist Senior Mechanics to fabricate parts safely and to spec, protecting product quality.
- Support press brake operations: help set up, perform preventive maintenance, and program/run simple parts.
- Execute material kitting; operate the shear proficiently and complete shear preventive maintenance.
- Help with die changes and CNC tooling swaps.
- Run the drop-off rack with a focus on scrap reduction and material flow.
- Keep equipment in reliable, clean working order.
- Meet daily output goals set by the Team or Station Leader.
- Replenish supplies and consumables to maintain line readiness.
- Continuously learn and build toward world-class mechanic capability and quality standards.
- Flex to other fabrication areas as volume dictates and assist wherever needed.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
This position reports to the Station Leader or Team Leader in Sheet Metal, or to a more senior Mechanic as designated by the Supervisor.

- Interpret blueprints and reference drawings.
- Use precision tools: micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers, squares, and protractors.
- Access and enter data in fabrication databases.
- Understand sheet metal quality standards and General Customer Expectations; execute first-part inspections.
- Operate material handling equipment safely, including pallet jacks and jib cranes.
- Collaborate effectively in a team setting.
- Apply Lean basics—5S, the Seven Wastes—to improve flow and reduce waste.
- Adhere to all task-specific safety requirements.

- Stand and walk for up to 80% of the shift; bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit, and reach routinely.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Manufacturing environment with elevated noise; temperature fluctuations; intermittent outdoor exposure around yards and docks.
