Job Summary
A small law office / real estate practice in the Metrowest area is seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to join its team. The ideal candidate will possess prior accounting and bookkeeping experience as well as a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. This could be a great opportunity for someone with prior accounting experience wanting to shake off the rust and re‑enter the workforce.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly time capture and generate pre-bills for review/approval.
- Generate client and tenant invoices.
- Assist in managing the accounts receivable (AR) / accounts payable (AP) processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Assist in cash flow management.
- Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
- Utilize standard accounting software and computerized tools.
- Provide technical accounting support for various projects.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights for management.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance financial processes and reporting accuracy.
Requirements/Attributes for Success
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in law firm, real estate and/or corporate accounting.
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles and financial concepts.
- Proficiency/comfort in using accounting software and Excel (or similar spreadsheet tool).
- Familiarity with account analysis, budgeting, and financial report writing.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical skills for account reconciliation and technical accounting tasks.
- Ability to work and learn independently as well as be part of the Accounting team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with minimal oversight.
- Strong work ethic, initiative, and reliable attendance to ensure dependability, develop proficiency, and contribute to the positive chemistry of the practice.
- The ability to effectively communicate and project a pleasant persona.
