Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Perform animal restraint using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations or treatments.
  • Collect blood, urine, or tissue samples for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling and handling according to aseptic techniques.
  • Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and anesthesia monitors to support accurate diagnostics and treatments.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and fluids via IV insertion or other routes while monitoring patient responses closely.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient care, including vital signs, medication administration, and treatment progress in compliance with veterinary standards.
  • Support pet owners with pet care advice, grooming recommendations, and behavioral training tips to promote overall animal wellness.

Experience

  • Prior veterinary experience is required. Accepting applicants from all veterinary backgrounds i.e. (general practice, emergency, specialty, etc)
  • Hands-on veterinary experience involving critical care procedures such as anesthesia management, vascular access (IV insertion), and emergency medicine protocols is preferred.
  • Laboratory experience including phlebotomy (blood draws), diagnostic radiology procedures, and radiology diagnostics knowledge.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to pet dental health maintenance.
  • Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary terminology to effectively assist in clinical settings.
  • Experience handling dogs and other animals with patience and confidence; training in dog handling or dog training is a plus.
  • Ability to operate medical equipment safely while adhering to aseptic techniques; strong animal restraint skills are essential for effective patient management.
