What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outdoor Park Services position at Badlands Off Road Park?
The Badlands Outdoor Park Services role is responsible for maintaining standards of safety throughout Badlands Off Road Park. Tasks such as staffing checkpoints into the park, enforcing park rules, hands-on trail maintenance, and vehicle recovery, the Outdoor Park Services employee keeps risk management and customer service their top priority.
Badlands operates in the tourism industry. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are our busiest days! Normal days off will be during the week. Working weekends and most Holidays is required.
Responsibilities:
- Offers exceptional customer service skills at all times.
- Staffs entry gate to the park and assures all customers have wrist bands, vehicle flags and are complying with the no alcohol rule.
- Continually monitors vehicles and customers on the property and ensures compliance with park rules.
- Pays special attention to safety risks and reoccurring operational concerns. Aids in solutions.
- Leads by example by knowing and following all company policies.
- Stays in excellent communication with peers and management during hours of operation.
- Manages difficult guest situations maintaining an authoritative, yet friendly, composure.
- Provides trail maintenance as needed including checking and securing trail barriers, removing debris, and vegetation overgrowth.
- Operates, and maintains company equipment and vehicles relevant to the position.
- Works alongside construction, grounds keeping, and the maintenance team in a hands-on role on an as-needed basis.
- Helps with set up and tear down of events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Competencies and Skills:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Passion for off-roading is a plus!
- Ability / experience operating vehicles in an off-road environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and remain calm during stressful situations.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Endurance to work in undesirable weather including high winds, cold and hot temps, and rain.
- Sense of ownership and pride in achievement.
- Strong ethics and values.
- Superior communication abilities.
- Great interpersonal skills with an upbeat team-player attitude.
- Ability to walk and /or stand for long periods, bend, reach, lift arms, and speak loudly. Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy weight.
- Extremely flexible schedule to accommodate long hours on weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
- First Aid/CPR Certification is a plus
- Bilingual (Spanish & English) is a plus.
