Position Summary
The Sous Chef plays a critical leadership role in the daily execution of kitchen operations by partnering closely with the Executive Chef to deliver exceptional food quality, maintain operational excellence, and develop high-performing culinary teams.
This position is responsible for leading day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring consistency in food preparation and presentation, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, and fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The Sous Chef leads by example, providing coaching, direction, and support while helping achieve financial and operational goals.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong culinary fundamentals, and is passionate about developing people while delivering memorable guest experiences.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and coach kitchen team members during daily operations
- Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and recipe execution
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and health department standards
- Assist with ordering, inventory, and controlling food waste
- Support scheduling, prep, production, and service execution
- Train, develop, and mentor culinary team members
- Foster a positive, respectful, and high-performing kitchen culture
- Partner with restaurant leadership to achieve operational and financial goals
Candidates must have the following qualities:
- 2 years of Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or culinary leadership experience
- Experience in a high-volume, scratch kitchen preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Passion for coaching and developing others
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
