What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer & Billing Clerk position at Babcock & Wilcox?
The Construction Accounting team provides the accounting support for all construction company projects across the country. This team member will perform the billing function for a large number of projects in addition to performing the project accounting function on several Small Service projects. The position will involve partnering with home office and job site construction personnel to meet various customer billing and reporting requirements.
- Work with Project Accountants to issue timely and accurate customer billings, and perform billing reconciliations, for numerous construction projects.
- Maintain and run Cognos financial reporting platform to facilitate timely Project Accountant reporting.
- Prepare billings for American Equipment Service Inc. projects along with other intercompany transactions.
- Perform Project Accountant function for Small Service projects along with larger projects as needed.
- Prepare monthly departmental work load reports.
- Cross-train with other department personnel to provide sufficient coverage of departmental responsibilities.
- Perform general accounting duties as needed.
- Assume leadership role for special projects.
- Perform month-end closing procedures for billing department.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- 3 years of experience with general accounting, cost accounting or project accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access.
- Cognos experience a plus.
- Self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to communicate with a diverse group of people - jobsite construction and home office personnel.
