Duties
- Operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to produce parts according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
- Set up and calibrate CNC machines including CNC lathes and mills using Fanuc or similar control systems; program using G-code and M-code for precise manufacturing processes.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Perform welding tasks using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, or arc welding to assemble metal components securely.
- Conduct precision measurements utilizing calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement tools for quality control.
- Maintain and troubleshoot machining tools, CNC programs, and fabrication equipment to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by adhering to safety standards, reducing waste, and improving workflow efficiency.
Skills
- Extensive experience with manual machining tools including lathes, grinders, milling machines, and hand tools.
- Proficiency in CNC programming using G-code/M-code; experience with Fanuc controls is preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, CAD files (SolidWorks, CAD), and manufacturing specifications.
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes for complex or precise component fabrication.
- Skilled in welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, arc welding with a solid understanding of safety procedures.
- Mechanical knowledge including blueprint interpretation, GD&T application, and precision measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with CNC quality inspection methods using measurement instruments like micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Ability to set up machines accurately and perform troubleshooting during production runs.
- Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements, tolerances, and machine settings.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote continuous improvement in operations.
