Respiratory Therapist - Full Time

Role Overview: This position involves comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including performing polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, patient care, and education. The role may also include overseeing other staff members.

Qualifications & Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
• Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the practice state.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPGST), Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS), or Registered Sleep Tech (RST) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to care for patients with advanced respiratory conditions and proficiency with computer applications.
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Perform tracheostomy care and complex procedures for respiratory conditions.
• Gather, analyze, and document patient information, calibrate equipment, and perform sleep study scoring.
• Set up and adjust testing equipment, perform routine observations, and conduct mask fittings for positive airway pressure therapy.
• Adapt interactions to patient needs, ensuring privacy and effective communication.
• Maintain compliance with applicable laws, standards, and safety protocols.
  
  

Physical & Environmental Demands: Requires medium physical effort, including lifting, stooping, reaching, and prolonged sitting or standing. The role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential infectious hazards within a healthcare setting.
