Position Overview
- Waymo is expanding into new markets and requires a highly organized Program Manager to oversee planning and coordination for large-scale events—such as concerts, protests, and sporting events—within operational territories. The goal is to mitigate risk, optimize decision-making, and enhance overall rider experience.
- The Program Manager will independently manage the full lifecycle of highly cross-functional programs, creating structured plans, driving execution, ensuring stakeholder alignment, and delivering operational excellence across multiple markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end program management, including defining charters, scope, OKRs, timelines, resources, and risk/dependency management.
- Develop detailed project plans with clear phases, constraints, and visibility into program risks.
- Build trusted relationships across cross-functional stakeholders; manage escalations and optimize team roles.
- Create and deliver predictable communication plans tailored to stakeholder groups.
- Execute change-management strategies and rollout plans; conduct impact assessments and resolve alignment issues.
- Collect and analyze data needed for program governance; maintain trackers and status reports.
- Drive governance structures, including mitigations, postmortems, and escalation workflows.
- Determine metrics and phasing for continuous improvement; establish regular checkpoints and rationalize program pivots.
- Event-specific responsibilities:
- Create weekly event plans across Waymo markets.
- Identify and analyze recurring or disruptive events, spotting trends and risk patterns.
- Collaborate with operations, product, and strategy teams to develop mitigation plans.
- Curate optimal pickup/dropoff experiences for high-density venues.

Mandatory Qualifications
- 3 years of Program/Project Management experience
