Job Summary
The Embedded Tester is responsible for validating embedded software and hardware systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with technical specifications. This role involves designing and executing test plans, identifying defects, and working closely with development and hardware teams to ensure high-quality embedded products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for embedded systems
- Perform functional, integration, system, and regression testing on embedded software and firmware
- Validate communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and Ethernet
- Test real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal applications
- Perform hardware-software integration testing using boards, sensors, and peripherals
- Identify, document, and track defects using defect tracking tools
- Analyze test results and provide detailed reports to stakeholders
- Collaborate with embedded developers, hardware engineers, and system architects
- Support automation testing using scripting languages where applicable
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in embedded systems testing (or relevant experience)
- Strong understanding of embedded C/C concepts
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and embedded platforms
- Knowledge of debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers
- Familiarity with RTOS concepts and real-time constraints
- Experience testing communication interfaces and protocols
