Job Description
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing procurement activities for assigned commodities, supporting both Production and New Product Introduction (NPI) operations. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Product Development, Planning, Document Control, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely and accurate purchasing execution. The ideal candidate will ensure material availability, maintain supplier performance, and support continuous improvement and compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull drawing packages for new quotes related to Production and End-of-Life components for assigned commodities.
- Manage procurement of raw materials for Production and NPI products, collaborating with Product Development, Engineering, Document Control, Planning, and other internal teams.
- Oversee buyer-owned interactions with Incoming Quality Assurance, Shipping, Receiving, Warehouse, and Return-to-Supplier (RTS) functions.
- Lead the RTS process and ensure adherence to target turnaround timelines.
- Resolve invoice and payment issues in a timely manner.
- Escalate raw material shortages or supply risks to management and Source teams through the STEM process to avoid production disruptions.
- Support Source-driven cost savings initiatives while maintaining strong On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance.
- Complete and maintain FDA-required “Compliance Wire” purchasing records.
- Maintain regular communication with suppliers regarding deliveries, forecasts, and performance expectations.
- Provide training and support to new buyers and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the purchasing team.
- Assist with audits related to the purchasing function.
