Axios Professional Recruitment is partnered with a leading manufacturing organization in Grand Rapids, Michigan to hire a Temporary Maintenance Technician for a 6-month contract. This individual will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment while supporting preventive maintenance initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment according to established schedules and standards
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions
- Analyze machine error messages, test results, and operator feedback to diagnose equipment issues
- Inspect, test, clean, lubricate, and adjust machinery to maintain optimal performance
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble industrial production equipment and machinery
- Repair or replace worn, damaged, or malfunctioning machine components and tooling
- Examine equipment and parts for excessive wear, damage, or defects and recommend corrective actions
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to perform repairs and installations
- Perform basic fabrication, cutting, and welding to repair equipment and manufacture replacement components as needed
- Support equipment installations, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and complete work orders in a timely manner
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work environment
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience maintaining and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Welding and metal fabrication experience preferred
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability practices
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or maintenance certification is a plus
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial electrical systems
- Experience with CMMS or computerized maintenance management systems is preferred
