Direct Bill Manager, US Credit Control

In the Direct Bill Manager role, you will be responsible for oversight of collections and cash operations teams, ensuring compliance defined in direct bill standard operating procedures and identified key controls. Direct Bill Manager, US Credit Control

In the Direct Bill Manager role, you will be responsible for oversight of collections and cash operations teams, ensuring compliance defined in direct bill standard operating procedures and identified key controls. Play an integral part in establishing and improving processes, controls and organizational structure through interactions with both internal and external partners. This position will monitor performance outcomes and communicating results to leadership.
What you’ll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Monitor the direct billing cycle starting at the collections phase until cash application completion and where needed engage with Underwriting Operations
- Manage, monitor and guide the direct bill team on collections of unpaid receivables to ensure adherence to collection guidelines, credit terms and designated installment plans for policy holders.
- Support Cash Processing team to safeguard that payment instructions, write off’s and disbursements are completed in accordance with key controls and service level agreements.
- Track outstanding balances, examine incoming inquiries, and implement strategies to minimize outstanding debt.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standard operating procedure, key controls and key performance indicators.
- Prepare and analyze reporting to identify trends, track key performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
- Effectively communicate with policyholders, brokers/agents and internal teams to resolve issues and address inquiries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address billing-related, collections, and cash application to improve customer satisfaction.
- Supervise and support staff, providing guidance, training and performance feedback.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Required Skills And Abilities
- Bachelors degree or higher in finance, accounting or a related field.
- Moderate years of leadership & management experience.
- Moderate years of billing and collections experience.
- Subject matter expert in direct bill insurance is required.
- Excellent knowledge of carrier direct bill platforms (Guidewire preferable) and Accounts Receivable reconciliation
- Excellent critical thinking and organizational skills
- Experience in process improvement with the ability to streamline workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy
- Effective communication and people skills
- Analytical Thinking - Ability to Identify issues in payment processing and develop solutions.
- Relationship Management - Skilled at managing carrier and client relationships for optimal outcomes.
- Previous work experience in a financial or insurance environment is preferred
- Internal candidates should have WINS and/or Guidewire systems experience.
- Knowledge &/or Experience in Guidewire platform is a plus
