Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Network Engineer with expertise in Cisco, Meraki, and Azure networking technologies, including firewalls, routers, switches, and cloud-based networking solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and hands-on experience working with both on-premises and cloud-based network infrastructure. You will play a key role in the management, maintenance, and optimization of our network systems, ensuring high availability and performance across both our on-premises and Azure environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Network Design & Implementation:
Assist in the design and implementation of network solutions based on business requirements, with a focus on Cisco and Meraki devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) as well as Azure networking services like Virtual Networks (VNets), Network Security Groups (NSGs), and VPNs.
• Network Configuration & Troubleshooting:
Configure, monitor, and maintain Cisco, Meraki, and Azure networking components. Identify and troubleshoot network issues across both on-premises and cloud environments to ensure optimal performance and connectivity.
• Cloud Network Integration:
Integrate on-premises networks with Azure virtual networks, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient connectivity between cloud and on-prem systems using VPN, ExpressRoute, or other hybrid cloud technologies.
• Security & Compliance:
Implement and manage network security policies across on-premises and cloud environments, including firewall configurations, Azure Network Security Groups (NSGs), VPN setups, and network segmentation. Monitor network security logs and work with the security team to prevent potential threats.
• Network Performance Optimization:
Proactively monitor network performance in both on-premises and Azure environments. Identify and resolve bottlenecks, optimize routing, and ensure efficient data flow across the network.
• Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain up-to-date network topology diagrams, configuration files, and documentation of all network systems. Provide reports on network performance, incidents, and changes as required.
• Collaboration:
Work closely with other IT teams to support cross-functional projects, integrating network systems with other enterprise applications and cloud services. Work closely with Business units and Service providers to address local network and Internet connectivity issues.
• On-call Support & Incident Response:
Provide on-call support during critical incidents and ensure swift resolution of network-related problems to minimize downtime.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience in network engineering, with hands-on expertise in Cisco, Meraki, and Azure networking (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, VNets, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, etc.).
• Experience with network security best practices, including firewall configurations, VPNs, and access control in both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Proficiency in using network management and monitoring tools (e.g., ThousandEyes, Cisco Prime, Meraki Dashboard, SolarWinds, Azure Network Watcher, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in both on-premises and Azure network environments.
• Experience with Azure networking services, such as Virtual Networks (VNets), VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Azure Firewall.
• CCNA or Meraki certification preferred (or equivalent experience). Azure certifications such as AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) or AZ-700 (Azure Network Engineer) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with hybrid cloud networking and SD-WAN solutions.
• Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
• Familiarity with cloud load balancing, application gateway configurations, and other Azure networking services.
• Knowledge of VoIP, wireless networking, and cloud-based security practices.
