Job Title: NPI Test Engineer / Validation Engineer
Location: Seattle, WA or Culver City, CA - Hybrid. Travel to New Jersey for testing.
Pay Rate: $60-85/hr
Employment Type: 6-12 month contract with option for extension or conversion

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a NPI Validation Engineer for a leading carbon capture technology company which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in developing test plans, ensuring validation rigor, and bridging R&D to production looking to further their career in clean energy and materials science.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and validation strategies with R&D teams to ensure materials meet performance requirements before production scale-up
- Establish standardized testing protocols with consistent parameters (duration, environment, sample preparation) to ensure reproducible and reliable results
- Bridge R&D, Product, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to translate research concepts into specifications, test methods, and procurement requirements
- Establish and manage a stage-gate process to evaluate emerging technologies, reduce technical risk, and accelerate commercialization timelines
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, or related field) with 5–10 years of test engineering, quality engineering, or product validation experience
- Proven experience developing test plans and validation strategies in demanding environments (aerospace, biotech, energy systems, advanced hardware); background in novel materials qualification required
- Understanding of material properties, performance testing, failure mechanisms, and quality/reliability tools (APQP, FMEA, DOE, SPC, root cause analysis)
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in high-innovation sectors such as space/aerospace, biotech, clean energy, or climate tech; background in startup environments preferred
- Working knowledge of environmental and durability testing (thermal cycling, corrosion, contamination) and advanced validation frameworks (FAT/SAT, DVT/PVT, PPAP)
- Demonstrated experience scaling technologies from lab → pilot → production; comfort operating in environments with high uncertainty and emerging requirements
