Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification
- Schedule patient appointments accurately, coordinate with clinical staff, and manage the front desk calendar to optimize patient flow.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; answer inquiries promptly and direct calls appropriately.
- Collect payments
- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to clinic policies; update patient files as needed.
- Assist with intake procedures for new patients, including gathering medical history and explaining clinic policies.
- Conduct insurance verification and explain coverage details to patients clearly.
- Support medical administrative functions such as filing, data entry, and managing office supplies to ensure an organized workspace.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and coordinate patient follow-up appointments.
- Utilize dental terminology effectively when communicating with patients or documenting procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Receptionist in a clinical or dental setting is highly preferred; clinic experience is a plus.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks.
- Knowledge of medical billing processes including insurance verification, collections, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare guidelines.
- Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse patient populations.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in filing, documentation review, and office management tasks.
