We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Estates Paralegal with a strong background in Estate Administration to join a growing team in New Bern. You will manage the lifecycle of estate administration, from initial probate filings to the final distribution of assets, serving as a trusted point of contact for fiduciaries and beneficiaries alike.
Your Impact
- Probate Management: Navigate the complexities of the North Carolina probate process, including the preparation and filing of all necessary petitions, inventories, and accountings with the Clerk of Superior Court.
- Fiduciary Support: Assist executors and administrators in their legal duties, including identifying assets, resolving debts, and managing distributions.
- Tax Coordination: Collaborate on the preparation of estate and fiduciary income tax returns and manage post-mortem tax planning tasks.
- Client Engagement: Serve as a compassionate and professional liaison for families, ensuring they are informed and supported throughout the administration process.
- Document Drafting: Prepare sophisticated legal documents including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney as needed to support the broader practice.
- Experience: 3 years of experience specifically in Estate Administration and probate within a law firm setting.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of North Carolina probate laws, rules, and local court procedures.
- Education: Paralegal certificate or degree from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
