We are hiring a high-ownership Payroll Specialist to take full responsibility for payroll accuracy, compliance, and execution across a multi-state workforce. This role is critical to protecting the business from compliance risk and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, every time. The right person is detail-driven, system-minded, and comfortable operating in an evolving environment, including supporting payroll system transitions.

- 3 years of payroll experience (100–300 employees preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel for audits, reconciliations, and reporting
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Responsibilities:
- Bi-weekly payroll execution
- Multi-state compliance, tax and risk management
- Audit Timesheet and ensure data integrity
- Manage 401K/benefit deductions ensuring accuracy, reporting and audits
- Contribute to payroll system improvements
- Primary contact for payroll questions and support
- Ad-Hoc projects assigned by Director of HR
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (required)
- Proven experience with multi-state payroll
- Experience supporting 401(k) administration through payroll
- Strong understanding of prevailing wage
- Required understanding of CA labor law and multi-state employer experience a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- FPC or CPP certification is a plus
The is a full-time, hourly position.
Compensation: $31.25/hour - $43.27/hour DOE
