AUX Partners works closely with a great 45 year old family-owned business that is searching for an experienced Controller. This would be a full-time role with a base salary, full benefits, including 99% paid healthcare, and yearly profit sharing. The successful candidate should be local to Kansas City, comfortable with being in an office full-time, and who has the desire to be somewhere long-term.
About the Role
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Own the full monthly and annual close process, including financial statement preparation and balance sheet reconciliation
- Produce location-level and consolidated P&L reporting and budget-to-actual variance analysis across all six locations
- Design and enforce internal controls across AP, AR, and general ledger functions
- Manage sales tax compliance across approximately 37 states including Avalara reconciliation
- Oversee fixed assets, prepaid amortization, accruals, and general ledger integrity in NetSuite
- Manage cash accounts, bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliation
- Supervise and develop the Accounting Manager and AP/AR Clerk
- Manage relationships with outside accounting firms
- Coordinate financial data for bank and lender reporting obligations
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated ownership of month-end close
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and experience managing internal controls
- Multi-location operations and multi-state sales tax experience
- Proficiency with ERP systems; NetSuite experience strongly preferred
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
- CPA or CMA preferred but not required
