We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a strong Design for Manufacturing (DfM) focus to help shape products that are ready for efficient, stable, and high‑quality volume production. In this role, you will work closely with product development and operations to ensure manufacturing considerations are built into the product from the earliest design stages. The role is not primarily focused on tooling or downstream process execution, but on influencing product design, architecture, and engineering decisions so that products can be industrialized reliably and economically. You will act as a bridge between development and production, representing manufacturing realities while maintaining a balanced view of performance, quality, cost, and long-term product robustness. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Contribute to cross‑functional product development teams as the design‑for‑manufacturing expert Ensure DfM and DfA principles are applied throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept and system architecture through detailed design, pilot builds, and series production Balance trade‑offs between functionality, performance, quality, cost, reliability, and manufacturability to achieve robust product designs Serve as the “voice of manufacturing” throughout the development process Identify and mitigate manufacturing and quality risks using structured methods such as D‑FMEA, P‑FMEA, and root cause analysis Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and external partners to ensure designs align with real production conditions Contribute to continuous improvement of both products and development processes based on production feedback and testing results Key Qualifications Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related discipline 5 years of relevant experience in Design for Manufacturing / Design for Assembly, manufacturing or industrial engineering and new Product Introduction (NPI), industrialization, or production ramp‑up Solid expertise in at least one of the following areas: Mechanical DfM, such as sheet metal forming, stamping, die casting, injection molding, machining, or structural assemblies Electrical / electronics DfM, such as PCBA design for manufacturing and test, cabling and harness systems, mixed‑signal electronics, or production test concepts Working knowledge of design and/or Process FMEA, root cause analysis and corrective action methods and PLM systems and engineering change processes Experience working close to both product development and manufacturing is a plus Hands‑on and analytical mindset, with an interest in testing, validation, and practical problem solving Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and organizational boundaries Willingness to travel between AutoStore’s facilities in Oslo, Nedre Vats, and Koszalin, Poland.
