General Manager – Warwick, RI Market (200k-300k)
High-end import dealership in the Warwick, Rhode Island market is looking for a proven General Manager to lead the store and help drive the dealership to the next level. The dealership has a strong and stable fixed operations department, but there is significant opportunity on the variable side of the business for the right leader to make an immediate impact. The dealership needs a leader who can help create urgency, improve communication, and ensure customers are being handled properly from start to finish. There is strong opportunity to increase market competitiveness through improved follow-through, stronger sales processes, and faster response times on incoming leads.
This is a great opportunity for a hands-on, actively engaged General Manager who leads from the front, brings energy to the store, and creates accountability throughout the dealership. This is not a “sit in the office” GM role. The person hired must be visible on the showroom floor, involved with customers, engaged with the sales team, and committed to improving processes, consistency, and overall execution of the sales process. The General Manager hired will not be micromanaged and will be given the autonomy to make changes as they see best fit to improve the store.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all dealership operations including variable operations, fixed operations, finance, and customer experience
- Drive new and used vehicle sales performance while ensuring the dealership remains competitive within the market
- Lead, develop, and hold the management team accountable across all departments
- Create and enforce processes for lead management, internet response times, follow-up, and appointment handling
- Work closely with the sales desk and management team to improve closing ratios, profitability, and overall execution
- Monitor dealership performance metrics including sales volume, gross profit, inventory management, CSI, and employee productivity
- Be actively involved on the showroom floor, with customers, and in daily dealership operations
- Recruit, train, mentor, and retain high-performing employees throughout the dealership
- Partner with department managers to improve communication, efficiency, and overall store performance
- Ensure a strong customer-first culture while maintaining accountability and structure throughout the dealership
- Work closely with ownership to develop and execute short and long-term growth strategies
- Continue building on the dealership’s strong fixed operations foundation while improving front-end performance and consistency
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a General Manager within a new car dealership environment
- Strong background with import brands and higher-end clientele
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Strong understanding of dealership sales operations, lead management, and customer retention
- Ability to implement processes and improve operational consistency
- High level of energy, accountability, and professionalism
Compensation:
- Competitive compensation package, with earnings in the $200,000 - $300,000 range based on experience and performance.
