Controller – South of Atlanta, GA
Compensation: $100,000–$120,000
Overview
Growing family-owned dealer group is acquiring an import dealership south of Atlanta and is looking for an experienced Automotive Controller to help lead the accounting transition. This will be the group's fifth location and offers a unique opportunity to build the accounting department from the ground up
The books are clean, but because accounting was previously handled through the selling dealer's centralized accounting office, the existing accounting staff will remain with the prior ownership. The incoming Controller will have the opportunity to hire and develop the accounting team while implementing the processes and structure needed for long-term success
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of dealership accounting, financial statements, month-end close, factory schedules, and reconciliation
- Hands-on, organized leader with the ability to build a team, hold employees accountable, and create structure
- Experience with dealership management systems such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Tekion, DealerTrack or similar is a plus
- Lead the month-end close process, including preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, schedules, and manufacturer reporting
- Oversee all day-to-day dealership accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop a new accounting team as the dealership transitions to an in-house accounting office
- Establish and implement accounting processes, internal controls, and best practices to create an efficient, well-structured department
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies, accounting standards, and manufacturer requirements while maintaining clean, audit-ready books
- Monitor key accounting metrics and proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies
- Previous automotive Controller experience at a new car dealership is required
Compensation
- Compensation package in the $100,000–$120,000 range based on experience
