Position Summary
We are seeking passionate and organized AM and PM Lead Cooks to join our culinary team at a fast-paced, counter-service restaurant specializing in local ranch beef, wholesome and healthy options, and rotating daily specials. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, a love for fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and the ability to execute high-quality dishes efficiently. You’ll assist in menu execution, manage kitchen flow during service, uphold food safety protocols, and contribute ideas for specials and seasonal offerings. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a team-driven, high-volume environment.
Role and Responsibilities
- Daily Kitchen Operations: Lead and manage morning or evening kitchen operations, ensuring timely prep and smooth service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours.
- Prep & Execution: Ensure freshness and quality of ingredients (especially local beef and produce), and execute menu items to spec and standard.
- Specials Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create, test, and implement daily specials that align with our healthy, local-food ethos.
- Team Leadership: Supervise prep cooks and line cooks during the AM and PM shifts. Provide direction, training, and feedback to maintain a motivated and productive kitchen team.
- Quality Control: Monitor food presentation and portion control; ensure consistency, cleanliness, and compliance with food safety standards.
- Inventory & Ordering: Assist in managing inventory, tracking usage, and ordering supplies to minimize waste and control food costs.
- Customer Focus: Work closely with the FOH team to ensure fast, friendly, and accurate service in our counter-style environment.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in a culinary leadership role, preferably in a fast-casual or counter-service restaurant.
- Strong understanding of healthy cooking techniques and sourcing local, seasonal ingredients.
- Excellent knife skills, prep efficiency, and ability to manage multiple stations during busy periods.
- Ability to create simple, flavorful specials based on available ingredients.
- Current Food Handler’s Certification (or willing to obtain).
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working early morning or late evening hours.
- Passion for hospitality, sustainability, and nourishing food.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, collaborative, and team-oriented.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
