Position Overview
The Material Handler I is responsible for managing the movement of materials throughout the warehouse, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely order fulfillment and maintaining inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Pick, pack, and audit customer orders accurately.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments.
- Move materials between receiving, storage, and production areas.
- Organize inventory on racks, shelves, and bins based on product specifications.
Inventory & Order Management
- Read and interpret work orders, shipping orders, and production schedules.
- Assemble orders and prepare them for shipment.
- Record inventory movements using warehouse systems.
- Weigh and count items to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
Equipment & Safety
- Operate material handling equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of warehouse or material handling experience.
- Ability to read and use warehouse computer systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of forklift experience (stand-up and sit-down).
- Experience in high-volume warehouse or distribution environments.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying conditions (heat, cold, noise, dust).
- Comfortable working on concrete surfaces and in warehouse environments.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, team-oriented setting (team of 5–6 under a Team Lead).
- Exposure to indoor/outdoor warehouse conditions.
- May require use of hearing protection and PPE.
