Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and well-being
- Support the implementation of individualized care plans developed by licensed occupational therapists across various healthcare settings
- Contribute to patient assessments by observing progress and reporting changes in condition or behavior
- Help facilitate therapy sessions for pediatric and geriatric populations in outpatient clinics or home health visits
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Support the preparation of therapeutic materials and adaptive equipment tailored to each patient's needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, including communication about treatment goals and progress
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program
- Prior experience working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, or home health settings is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles
- Experience assisting with ADLs and supporting patient care across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics
- Familiarity with medical imaging procedures and acute care environments is a plus
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in fast-paced settings
- Excellent communication skills to engage patients and collaborate with healthcare professionals effectively
