Au Beau Séjour French Preschool – Oakland, CA
Au Beau Séjour French Preschool (ABS) is a warm, community-driven French immersion preschool in Oakland, California. We are expanding ABS with our new ABS Infant & Toddler Program and are looking for passionate French-speaking educators to join our team.
Our school currently operates two campuses. (We will soon add a 3rd location):
- ABS West Campus
- ABS Mountain Campus

- Infant & Toddler Teachers
- Infant & Toddler Teachers Assistants
- Infant & Toddler Aide Teachers

Position Overview Infant / Toddler Teacher
Teachers create a nurturing and responsive classroom environment that supports the developmental needs of infants and toddlers.
Teachers guide children’s early development through:
- sensory exploration
- language development (in French)
- emotional security
- early social interactions
- motor development
Teachers collaborate closely with families and the teaching team to ensure each child thrives.
Position Overview Teacher Assistant / Aide
Assistants support the lead teacher in daily routines and help maintain a safe, caring, and engaging environment for infants and toddlers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nurturing and responsive care for infants and toddlers
- Create a safe and stimulating classroom environment
- Plan and support age-appropriate activities
- Support children's emotional, social, and developmental needs
- Maintain positive communication with families and staff
- Assist with daily routines (feeding, diapering, naps)
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
- Promote the values and mission of ABS
Qualifications Infant / Toddler Teachers
Must meet California licensing requirements:
- 12 ECE units (Child Development, Child Family & Community, Preschool Curriculum)
- 3 additional ECE units in Infant & Toddler Development
Candidates currently completing these units are encouraged to apply.
Additional requirements:
- Experience working with infants or toddlers preferred
- CPR & First Aid certification (EMSA certified) or willingness to obtain
Teacher Assistants / Aides
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Enrolled in or willing to enroll in ECE coursework
- Experience with infants or toddlers preferred
- CPR & First Aid certification (EMSA certified) or willingness to obtain
Fluent French (spoken, reading, and writing) is required for all positions.

Work Environment
Working with infants and toddlers is active and hands-on. Staff may:
- Lift and carry children
- Sit on the floor or child-sized furniture
- Assist with diapering and self-care routines
