What You’ll Do
- Oversee daily dietary operations, including meal preparation, service, and sanitation
- Develop and implement menus that meet regulatory standards and resident nutritional needs
- Ensure all meals comply with physician orders, special diets, and texture modifications
- Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and resident satisfaction
- Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate dietary team members
- Maintain compliance with sanitation, infection control, and safety regulations
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs and waste
- Maintain accurate records for purchases, deliveries, and departmental reporting
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to support resident nutrition
- Participate in surveys, inspections, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Respond to resident and family concerns related to dietary services
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential — required
- ServSafe Certification — required
- Minimum 2 years of food service management experience, preferably in long-term care or healthcare
- Strong knowledge of nutrition, special diets, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Understanding of federal and state dietary regulations in skilled nursing
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage budgets, inventory, and multiple priorities effectively
