About the Opportunity
Our client, a prominent investment dealer and capital markets leader, is seeking a Vice President to oversee Valuation Policy Governance and Controls for their New York-based global team. This role ensures asset valuations are conducted with precision, consistency, and compliance, while driving continuous enhancement of valuation methodologies and reporting standards. The position offers high visibility with opportunities to influence global policy, collaborate across business units, and act as a subject matter expert during regulatory and audit reviews.
The annual base salary range is $150,000 to $170,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce adherence to global valuation and valuation adjustment policies across multiple business units, including complex/Level 3 instruments
- Conduct regular reviews and assessments to ensure effective implementation and accuracy in asset valuations
- Serve as the primary contact for internal, audit, and regulatory inquiries related to valuation methodologies and policy processes
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports on valuation policy compliance, effectiveness, and result commentary to senior management and committees
- Coordinate valuation committee meetings, supporting effective oversight and documentation of valuation decisions
- Provide training and guidance on policy updates, valuation standards, and governance best practices to team members and stakeholders
- Escalate, track, and address policy breaches or exceptions, recommending practical solutions and improvements as necessary
- Analyze and explain IPV variances, valuation adjustments, and fair value reporting in relation to business pricing and market dynamics
- Collaborate with risk, finance, IT, and other control functions to drive enhancements to the valuation framework, controls, and process efficiency
- Stay current with valuation regulations, accounting standards, and evolving industry practices; proactively recommend policy enhancements
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as CFA or FRM strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in valuation control, risk management, or governance within financial services; strong valuation controls and policy background required
- Demonstrated ability to manage asset valuation policies, ensure compliance, and handle audit/regulatory interactions
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills; skilled at presenting to senior decision makers and committees
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-performance, fast-paced environment
- Strong proficiency in data analysis, valuation techniques and relevant software/tools (equities, fixed income, derivatives, private assets)
- Familiarity with major regulatory frameworks including IFRS, US GAAP, and financial sector regulations
- Proven ability to mentor, train, and drive a culture of compliance and continuous improvement across teams
