This role involves providing compassionate end-of-life care to patients across home and skilled nursing settings while supporting families through symptom management, education, and the hospice process.This position offers steady weekday hours, meaningful patient interaction, and the opportunity to make a significant impact during a critical stage of life.Hospice RN Key Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized hospice care plansAdminister medications and manage pain using WHO Analgesic Ladder principlesImplement adjuvant therapy, breakthrough dosing, and equianalgesic opioid strategiesManage PCA pumps and ensure safe handling and disposal of medicationsAssess and treat somatic, visceral, and neuropathic painUtilize verbal and nonverbal pain scales to guide interventionsManage symptoms including anorexia/cachexia, aphasia, ascites, constipation/diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, and pressure ulcersSupport end-of-life needs including cultural considerations, spiritual needs, death pronouncement, perideath family care, and postmortem proceduresAddress ethical and legal topics such as advance directives, withholding/withdrawing treatment, and medical futilityHospice RN Qualifications:Active New Jersey RN license – RequiredMinimum 2 years of hospice or home health nursing experience – RequiredStrong pain management and symptom management skills – RequiredValid driver’s license and reliable transportation – RequiredBLS (AHA) – RequiredAbout Atlas Search:Atlas Search partners with New Jersey’s leading healthcare organizations to connect exceptional nursing professionals with rewarding hospice and home health opportunities.
