Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting | Fintech | Pre-IPO
A rapidly scaling fintech company is seeking a Director of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to build and lead a best-in-class accounting function during a critical phase of growth.
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role working closely with senior finance leadership, driving technical accounting, policy development, and financial reporting infrastructure in a fast-paced, pre-IPO environment.
Technical Accounting & Policy
- Serve as the SME across complex accounting areas (ASC 718, 606, 310/326, 842, 740, 805)
- Lead development and implementation of accounting policies and technical memos
- Partner cross-functionally to evaluate and structure new transactions
- Support month-end close for technical accounting areas
Financial Reporting & Controls
- Own audited financial statements, footnotes, and reporting packages
- Manage external audit process and reporting calendar
- Build and enhance reporting processes, timelines, and accuracy
- Design and implement internal controls in preparation for SOX compliance
- Partner on ERP and systems infrastructure to support scale
What They’re Looking For:
- CPA preferred
- 10 years of experience across Big 4 and industry
- Strong background in technical accounting, SEC reporting, and SOX
- Experience in fintech, financial services, or regulated environments preferred
- Proven ability to build processes and functions from the ground up
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting topics
Salary : $180,000 - $250,000
