Certified Sterile Processing Technician - Egg Harbor Township Surgery Center - Full Time

Job Description

The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sterilization for surgical instruments and equipment. As a Certified Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for the efficient operation of sterilization equipment and the completion of daily tasks within the SPD. Your expertise will contribute to the overall success of our surgery center, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for our patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain sterilization and cleaning equipment as per established policies and procedures.
• Pre-clean, clean, and prepare surgical instrumentation and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize the risk of infection and ensure a safe work environment.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives, contributing to the continuous enhancement of our processes and patient care.
• Maintain a high level of teamwork and cooperation, collaborating effectively with other departments and team members.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those set by the NJ Department of Health.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in sterile processing and central service.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by the department and regulatory bodies.
• Support the training and development of new team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  
  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification, recognized by the NJ Department of Health, is mandatory.
• Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience within SPD/sterilization is preferred, demonstrating a strong understanding of the role.
• Basic computer skills are essential for efficient documentation and record-keeping.
• Fluency in the English language is required for effective communication with team members and patients.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, based on workload and staffing needs.
• Previous leadership experience is preferred, showcasing your ability to guide and mentor others.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• A commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying updated with industry advancements.
