Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team during procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Maintain a sterile field by preparing and organizing surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team based on your knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology.
- Position and move patients as directed by the perioperative registered nurse.
- Ensure surgical equipment is functioning properly and report any issues.
- Deliver prompt and professional patient care, maintaining confidentiality and respect.
- Work collaboratively as part of the care team to meet patient needs and departmental goals.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of excellence.
- Complete 15 hours of continuing education annually to maintain NJ certification.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program is essential.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technician in NJ is mandatory.
- Previous experience in a surgical setting is preferred but not required.
- Excellent knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology, especially related to surgical procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for handling surgical instruments.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and maintain retraction for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
