What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager | Estimator | Sales Representativie - Door & Hardware Distributor position at ATLANTIC DOOR AND HARDWARE INC?
Atlantic Door and Hardware (AD&H) is a well-established commercial door, frame, and hardware distributor headquartered in Lake Worth, Florida. We serve the South Florida construction market across the healthcare, hospitality, industrial, multifamily, and tenant improvement sectors, providing hollow metal frames, commercial wood doors, and a comprehensive range of architectural finish hardware from industry-leading manufacturers. Our team operates with a deep bench of house accounts, a consistent pipeline of active projects, and a culture that rewards expertise and performance.
We are seeking a seasoned commercial DF H professional to join our team in a combined role encompassing project estimation, sales, and project management. This is not an entry-level or training position-AD&H has an active book of business and a steady inflow of requests for quote (RFQs) that demand someone who can step in and immediately contribute. The right candidate will bring a thorough command of door, frame, and hardware product applications, estimating discipline, and the interpersonal drive to build and sustain client relationships.
This is a "soup to nuts" role. You will be expected to estimate, close, order, and manage projects from initial scope review through final punch-owning the full project lifecycle on behalf of AD&H and our clients.
Key Responsibilities
• Estimate commercial DF H projects across diverse market segments, including healthcare, hospitality, industrial, amenities, and tenant improvement (TI), utilizing Protec estimating software and current pricing from our vendor base.
• Interpret architectural blueprints, door schedules, hardware specifications, and project specifications to produce accurate, competitive proposals.
• Develop and produce submittal packages and shop drawings for review and approval by architects, general contractors, and owners.
• Convert awarded estimates into purchase orders; coordinate procurement with our warehouse and vendor partners to align with project schedules.
• Manage active projects from contract execution through installation completion, including RFI management, change orders, owner/GC communications, and delivery coordination.
• Cultivate existing house accounts and develop new client relationships within the South Florida commercial construction market.
• Identify opportunities to expand scope on active projects and introduce AD&H's full product and service offering to prospective clients.
• Maintain organized project files, correspondence, and documentation in accordance with AD&H's standards and client contractual requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Industry Experience
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the commercial door, frame, and hardware (DF H) industry - distributor, manufacturer's representative, or specialty subcontractor background strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated project portfolio spanning multiple market sectors: healthcare, hospitality, industrial, amenities, and/or tenant improvement.
• Comprehensive product knowledge across hollow metal frames, commercial wood and specialty doors, and finish hardware applications (closers, locksets, exit devices, hinges, access control hardware, electrified hardware, etc.).
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in Protec estimating software and/or comparable DF H estimating platforms; shop drawing production experience required.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints, door/frame schedules, finish hardware specifications (CSI Division 08), and project specifications.
• Working knowledge of current AD&H vendor base, including but not limited to ASSA ABLOY, Allegion, DORMA Kaba, and VT Industries.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); experience with project management tools or CRM platforms is a plus.
Professional Standing
• Must not be subject to any active non-compete covenant with a current or former employer that would restrict your ability to perform this role in the South Florida market.
• Possession of an established client following or book of business that can transition to AD&H is highly desirable and will be a significant factor in our evaluation process.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills; ability to present proposals and represent AD&H with confidence at all levels of the construction team.
• Candidates must be prepared to address the following directly during the interview process: What is motivating your search for a new opportunity, and why are you looking to leave your current employer?
