Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, perform bookkeeping and maintain department budget.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
A minimum of two years college hours in accounting-related field, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices
- Ability to type 50-55 wpm
- Ability to use calculator (10-key by touch)
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and do word processing (Microsoft Office-Excel, Word and Power Point)
- Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
- Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
- Knowledge of Federal and State Board of Education rules and regulations
- Proficient skills in keyboarding and file maintenance
- Ability to multitask
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience:
Two years accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Record and maintain bookkeeping activities.
- Inventory requisition for correct totals and correct coding.
- Submission of budget changes for local funds to the Business Office.
- Process invoices for payment and audit purchase orders; check accuracy and availability of funds on special education campus requisitions and payment vouchers.

- Maintain vendor, budget code databases on all purchase orders.
- Record, store, and analyze information using accounting software.
- All incoming and outgoing correspondence for the Director.
- Maintain all department files.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Director.
