Responsibilities:
- Serve as a resource to staff in clinical and managerial decision making, delegates responsibilities to staff
- Assists in developing methods of coordination of nursing services with other resident care services to ensure the continuity of the resident's total regimen of care
- Participate in inspections (surveys) made by authorized government agencies
- Participate in and assure appropriate assessment of residents, validates nursing staff's clinical decisions
- Participate in development, implementation, and communication of resident's care plan
- Assure that staff is implementing care plans, performing care activities appropriately, and recognizing changes in resident status
- Make frequent rounds on nursing unit(s) to ensure that all personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with established nursing standards, and that all resident's needs are being met
- Monitor documentation procedures of nursing staff. Audits assigned documentation on a daily basis to ensure that all federal, state, and facility requirements are met
- Cooperate with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that services are properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents
- Within the framework of established staffing patterns, recognizes needs and works to facilitate appropriate assignment of staff
- Must possess an active and unencumbered LPN or RN license in Massachusetts
- Bachelor's in Nursing preferred and CPR certification required
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must possess accurate and comprehensive assessment skills
- Must be familiar with drug actions and interactions
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care
